Solar hot water systems are made to operate automatically, by collecting the sun’s energy when it is available during the day. When the sun's solar energy is unavailable, during the evening, the solar water heating system turns off and the hot water is stored in your water tank until it is needed.

how solar heating works:

1. Solar collector panels: are made of lightweight, and durable materials.  These solar panels are ultraviolet-resistant, and designed specifically for hot water heating by using the sun's energy.
   
2. When solar energy is available during the day, collector panels heat water pumped through the solar heating loop.
3. The heat exchanger function is to transfer heat from the solar loop to water in your storage tank where it is stored for use in all household appliances, showers, sinks, and faucets. (Rule of Thumb) - Water in the two loops never mixes.
4. When the solar heating system is not in use, the hot water in the solar collector panels drain into the wall mounted drain-back tank. This function prevents water from freezing inside the solar collector panels during cold months.
